The chapter „Friendly People“ from Bill Brysons „Notes from a big Country“ is about the politeness of the people in New Hampshire.

The author Bill Bryson writes that he has not written a lot of postive things about American people. But now he wants to give them some compliments.

In a little town in New Hampshire the people are very hospitable. On his first day in New Hampshire Bill Bryson wants to go in a restaurant but his next door neighboors invite him eating with them.

Another point which he writes about is, that there is no crime in New Hampshire. You can park where you want and nobody will steal it, no matter if you lock it or not.

There are people, who are going on holiday and they do not even lock their door at home.

Bill Bryson gives two reasons for crime not existing in New Hampshire.

The first reason is, there is nobody who will buy stolen things from nobody. The police will know immediately.

The second reason is, that if you compare it to living to New York, the New Hampshire people do not live in a real world no longer.
